About the Project

Founded in 2008, Cymdeithas Coedwig Cymuned Pontrhydfendigaid Community Woodland Association manages and develops the Coed Y Bont (Community Woodland) for local people and other visitors to the area. The woodland is part of the Welsh Government’s woodland estate and is managed by Natural Resources Wales (NRW), with which we have a management agreement. The vision of the organisation is to provide an exemplary community woodland that is attractive, interesting and provides quiet enjoyment that is accessible to all. The Woodland has a range of interesting and diverse wildlife, informs people about the woodland environment and involves the local community. The Woodland has been funded by various organisations and through the hard work of its volunteers and committee members. It has been awarded 4 different awards, winning The Green Flag Community Award each year since 2016!
