Resilience in the Welsh Uplands
Loading…
Over 80% of Wales is classed as upland. The unprecedented climatic and economic challenges that these landscapes are facing have huge implications for the wellbeing of communities and ecosystems within them.
Environment Evidence 2020 will explore the theme of resilience and what these challenges mean for our uplands from range of environmental, social and economic perspectives. The conference will bring together stakeholders from across the public, private and third sectors to discuss how the latest research can help shape the policies of the future.

Over five days we will build a picture of what resilience looks like in the upland context and how we can support the wellbeing of the communities and ecosystems within it. With speakers attending from across the UK and Ireland, we aim to challenge current thinking and open up new avenues for collaboration and innovation.
The conference will cover a broad range of topics including forestry, peatlands, biodiversity, agriculture, water quality, culture, heritage and much more. Abstract submissions are now closed, but please contact us to find out about other ways you can work with us or support the conference.
A 100% online experience
Since the beginning of the lockdown, we have reformatted the conference to create a fully digital experience. Now taking place 14-18th September, the conference will offer smaller, more accessible sessions, timed to help you stay on top of other commitments throughout the day.
We’ll be using the best Zoom technology as well as a shiny new conferencing app to make sure delegates get the best possible experience, via pre-recorded lectures and talks, live presentations, discussions and Q&As.
From the comfort of your home or elsewhere, we’ll provide a fully immersive few days of great talks and spaces to collaborate and connect with others.
Lowering the barriers to participation
We’re conscious that traditionally formatted conferences have barriers to access, either via price, time commitment, travel and/or childcare inconveniences. Our new online experience allows us to widen the net and increase the cap on attendees, be more flexible with the programme and offer a lower price.
Our new flat-rate ‘Access all areas’ ticket for the online conference is just £50 and all online delegates will continue to receive full access to our suite of recorded live streams, presentations and all papers for twelve months as well as continued access to the conference app and meeting rooms even after the conference has taken place. We are working with online conference provider Whova to facilitate this new capability.
Multi-person access deals for organisations and businesses
In addition to this, our lower overheads for the conference mean we can offer a new, special rate for organisations and businesses that would like multiple people in their organisation to have full access to the conference information, live streams and materials. Go to our Sponsorship page for more information on an organisation/business rate for you and your colleagues.
If you have any questions about the conference, sponsorship or about other ways you can get involved, please contact info@epwales.org.uk.
