Living Wales has provided new and open capacity for Wales to routinely characterise, describe, map and monitor the national landscape through Earth observation data, in near real time and historically. This interactive showcase event will convey how you can access the newly developed Welsh Data Cube to view and interrogate the archives of satellite sensor data and derived products. These included a diverse range of environmental descriptors (relating to forests, water, agriculture, natural bare surfaces and urban areas)and the land cover and habitat maps constructed from these. The capacity to consistently and routinely map change according to different impacts and driving pressures obtained from Earth observation and other spatial data will also be conveyed. The Earthtrack mobile application will be demonstrated, with this providing options for ground level recording of the states and dynamics of land covers and habitats. As part of the event, we will convey new capabilities for planning co-designed landscapes and assessing values and risk. Please come and join us as we transition into an exciting new phase of the project.
The event is in person and online and will be held at the Centre for Alternative Technology, which houses the Living Wales Exhibition and Training Centre.
Living Wales has been funded by Welsh Government and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Ser Cymru program with support from other countries working with the Open Data Cube.
