Welsh Government PhD Placement – Evaluating the role of government grants and subsidies in delivering the Global Biodiversity Framework in Wales

The Marine and Biodiversity Division of the Welsh Government is seeking a PhD student for a placement opportunity within its Nature Finance team. The team is responsible for the development and implementation of the Welsh Government’s nature finance plan to meet nature recovery goals. In line with Wales’s commitment to Target 18 of the Global Biodiversity Framework, the team are exploring how Government grants and subsidies could be realigning to avoid/reduce negative impacts on nature and maximise positive impacts.

📍 Flexible / hybrid
💰 UKRI stipend rate (pro rata)
📅3-month period*

*The option to extend for a further 3 months is possible if the project team feel there is merit in doing so and if it is compatible with the post-holder’s university research schedule and DTP/CDT arrangements.
