The Welsh Government is offering a 3-month PhD placement (from January 2025) on “Assessing data availability to improve decision making on agricultural pollution.” This role will explore how nutrient management data from farms, surveys, and third parties can better support farmers and policymakers while minimising reporting burdens. The placement provides a unique opportunity to gain experience in evidence-based policy development, stakeholder engagement, and data analysis in a high-profile policy area. Flexible working (remote or office-based; full- or part-time) is supported.
- Who can apply: Registered UK-based PhD students (with supervisor approval). International students with a visa may apply part-time basis (with DTP/programme approval & visa restrictions).
- Funding:
- Voluntary placement – Welsh Government pays UKRI stipend equivalent.
- Required placement (e.g. PIPS) – funded by Research Council; WG covers travel/subsistence.
- Duration: 3 months (possible extension).
