This talk will look at types of treatment wetland and their applications to date (worldwide and UK). Gabriela will discuss research highlights by themes (nitrogen removal, phosphorus removal, biodiversity, circular economy) and research needs/unanswered questions.

About the Speaker

Gabriela Dotro | Constructed Wetlands Association

Gaby is a nature-based solutions (NbS) specialist with over 20 years’ experience in the water sector, leading strategic consulting for UK water utilities and regulators and serving as a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield University. She has delivered 50+ projects across the UK, Canada, the USA, and Argentina, focusing on treatment wetlands, their integration with conventional technologies, greenhouse gas emissions, and nutrient and metal fate. She is Chair of the Constructed Wetland Association, a long-standing member of the IWA Specialist Group on Wetland Systems for Water Pollution Control management committee, and an author of books and peer-reviewed publications. Committed to inclusive career pathways and knowledge sharing, she works with the King’s Trust and actively delivers training, speaks at events, and engages in community outreach.
