Earth Observation Masterclass – Cardiff 20th February 2025 | Space Enterprise Community

Please note: places are limited.

About the EO Masterclass

Have you got an idea for how Earth observation (EO) data can solve a problem, but aren’t sure how to work out what type data is right to use? Do you find navigating the EO data landscape confusing and frustrating? Are you ready to finally get some clarity on how to make the most of EO data for your service?

The Space Technology Innovation Masterclasses in Earth Observation (EO) are one of the fully-funded offerings within the Space Ecosystem Development programme between the UK Space Agency and the Satellite Applications Catapult.

The EO Masterclasses are designed to help public sector end-users, known as challenge owners, explore the value and potential of Earth Observation. Participants learn how EO data can address their specific challenges, what type of data is appropriate for them, assess different implementation strategies, and evaluate the commercial implications of various data and technology approaches.

Delivered as a one-day workshop by experts in Earth Observation and User-Centred Design from the Catapult, the EO Masterclass accommodates up to 30 stakeholders. Upon registering, participants are asked to submit a current challenge or opportunity in which EO could play a role. The workshop content is then tailored to these challenges, ensuring that stakeholders leave with a clearer understanding of how to incorporate EO data into their organisation, as well as their specific data and operational requirements.

After the workshop, the Catapult provides a report summarising the key challenges raised by the participants and offering recommendations for how EO solutions can be applied to address them. Additionally, attendees gain access to Catapult’s ongoing support services, which include technical expertise, supply chain databases, community groups, commercialisation services, and funding opportunities.

About the Catapult

The Satellite Applications Catapult exists to grow the UK economy by increasing the adoption of innovative space technology and data.

We were established in 2012 as part of the Catapult network to grow the UK space sector and the UK economy, with much of our work being structured around three key missions to solve some of the most pressing challenges in sustainability, connectivity and autonomy, and beyond our Earth.

We do this through collaborative projects and programmes, business support services, and increasing market adoption.
