Laura will present her research on peatland ecosystem function and the impacts of peatland forestry using interdisciplinary hydrogeophysical methods.

Laura Hughes-Dowdle | Swansea University

Laura is a final-year PhD researcher at Swansea University, focusing on the forest-to-bog restoration of degraded peatlands in the Rhigos Mountains. Her research adopts a novel, multi-disciplinary approach, linking hydrological function to soil physics through geophysical surveys and lab analysis. This builds a complete picture of peatland functional condition, highlighting the signs of recovery that are hidden beneath the surface.
