Join this online panel to hear from professionals working across the environmental sector, sharing their career journeys, experiences, and the real-world impact of their work.
We have invited a range of speakers from consultancies, research, charities, private sector and public sector. Each speaker will share their career journey to date, exploring the opportunities and challenges along the way.
The session will include a Q&A, offering space to explore what it takes to build a meaningful, impact-driven career.
About the Speakers
A former biology and biological sciences student at Bangor University, Jonathan is a land management and conservation professional leading landscape-scale initiatives such as Woodlands for Water. His work focuses on woodland restoration, water quality improvement, and habitat resilience across north-east Wales. Jonathan is also Chair of the Continuous Cover Forestry Group, promoting the transformation of even-aged plantations into structurally and biologically diverse woodlands.
A former engineering student at Swansea University, Edward is a Senior Process Engineer at Arup, a global consultancy working across infrastructure, buildings, energy, and sustainability. His work contributes to shaping low-carbon and resilient solutions for the built environment.
Formerly a PhD student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Bangor University, Will is now an Early Career Researcher at Cardiff University. He is also a Director of the Wales Ecology and Evolution Network (WEEN), where he supports early career researchers through conferences, mentoring, and sector guidance.
A former anthropology and linguistics student, Sylvia is the Founder of ETO ETO, a social enterprise transforming non-recyclable waste into urban accessories. She also delivers upcycling workshops, talks, and Carbon Literacy training in Welsh and English. Alongside this, Sylvia works with Business in the Community to support business climate action, is a Trustee at Repair Café Wales, and co-hosts People, Planet Pint Cardiff.
