Global Mangrove Watch (GMW) is an online platform that provides the remote sensing derived products and tools for monitoring mangroves. It gives universal access to near real-time information on where and what changes there are to mangroves across the world, and highlights why they are valuable.
About the Speaker
Pete Bunting’s research focuses on mapping and monitoring terrestrial ecosystems, with a particular focus on forested ecosystems, particularly mangroves. More recently, this has expanded into other wetland ecosystems. He has led the development of many of the Global Mangrove Watch mapping products, specifically the annual mangrove extent and mangrove near real-time loss alerts. He also manages several active open-source software projects, including the remote sensing and GIS software library (RSGISLib).
